The following Anchorage area construction projects and events will cause traffic delays this week.

1) Lake Otis Pkwy. between Abbott Rd. and E. 68th Ave.

The intersection of Lake Otis Pkwy. and Lore Rd. will be closed from 8:00 PM Friday, May 16 to 6:00 AM, Monday, May 19. Local access will only be permitted north of the intersection closure.

88th Ave., from Lake Otis Pkwy to Bell Pl. is expected to be closed through Friday, May 23 for road construction. Please follow all signs and appropriate detour routes.

Lore Rd., east of Lake Otis Pkwy. is expected to be closed through Friday, May 23.

Expect lane restrictions and night work on Lake Otis Pkwy. Be alert to changing pedestrian access.

2) New Seward Hwy. at Fireweed Ln.

Beginning Saturday, May 17 at 6:00 AM, expect multiple lane closures and a flagger-controlled intersection at New Seward Hwy. and Fireweed Ln. for traffic signal pole and lighting installation. Please expect short delays and follow flagger instructions.

Expected Completion: Monday, May 19 at 6:00 AM

3) F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave.

Expect a full road closure on F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave. for road, sidewalk and intersection improvements. All businesses will have access and alternate pedestrian detour routes will be provided. Please follow appropriate detour routes, via 6th Ave. to C St., and use caution.

4) Strawberry Rd. between Jewel Lake Rd. and Northwood Dr.

Beginning Monday, May 5 expect intermittent full road closures on Strawberry Rd. between Jewel Lake Rd. and Northwood Dr. for road improvements. Flagging operations and single lane closures will also be in intermittent effect. Residential access will be maintained. Please follow appropriate detour routes.

5) Gold Nugget Triathlon

Sunday, May 18th between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, expect flagger-controlled intersections and short delays for the annual Gold Nugget Triathlon. The following areas will be affected:

Oilwell Rd. between Glenn Hwy. and RV Park at Bartlett Exit

Muldoon off-ramp at Glenn Hwy.

Fort Richardson overpass ramps

Glenn Highway at Moose Run Exit

Please follow flagger instructions and watch for event participants.

6) Bragaw St. between Glenn Hwy. and Mountain View Dr.

Expect a full road closure on Bragaw St. between Glenn Hwy. and Mountain View Dr. for thte Glenn-Bragaw interchange construction activities. Pedestrian access will remain open. Business access for Red Apple and Player's Bingo will remain open via Mountain View Dr. Please follow appropriate detour signs and use caution.

7) G St. at 7th Ave.

Beginning Friday, May 16th at 7:00 PM, the intersection of G St. and W. 7th Ave. will be closed for sidewalk improvements, traffic signalization, lighting, and paving work. The intersection will reopen for travel on Monday, May 19th at 6:00 AM.

The City Hall alley will maintain two-way access at G St. for traffic. Please follow appropriate detour routes, via 6th Ave, H St. and 8th Ave., and use caution.

8) Mountain View Dr. between Commercial Dr. and Glenn Hwy.

Beginning Friday, May 16th, expect intermittent lane closures on Mountain View Dr. between Commercial Dr. and Glenn Hwy. for road reconstruction and landscaping work. All lanes will be open between 7:00 - 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Please follow construction signs and flagger instructions.

9) Denali St. between 32nd Ave. and Benson Blvd.

Expect intermittent single northbound lane closures on Denali St. between 32nd Ave. and Benson Blvd. between 9 AM and 5 PM for utility work. Please drive with caution.

10) Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center (Downtown Area)

Expect multiple sidewalk and road closures in the downtown area due to construction on the new Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center. The following roads will be effected:

7th Ave. between F St. & G St.

8th Ave. between F St. & G St.

F St. between 7th Ave. & 8th Ave.

G St. between 6th Ave. & 8th Ave.

Please use caution and follow detour routes. All businesses in the effected area will be open to the public. Construction will continue in various stages through 2008.
